2025 Subaru Solterra prices reduced by up to $7,000

  • The 2025 Subaru Soltera costs $39,915
  • Subaru has cut the EV's base price by $6,500 compared to the 2024 model
  • Subaru applies a $7,500 tax credit to lower lease numbers

Like its Toyota cousin, the bZ4X, the 2025 Subaru Solterra gets a significant price cut for the new model year, along with a new black-themed appearance package.

Subaru is guaranteed Price for model year 2025 Friday, including a new price of $39,915 for the entry-level Premium, and destination. That price is $6,500 less than the 2024 model, though some of that is accounted for by an increase in the destination charge from $1,345 to $1,420.

The Solterra Limited grade also gets a $6,500 price cut, bringing its MSRP to $43,415 at destination. This grade adds features like 20-inch wheels, power-adjustable front seats, a power tailgate, an 11-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, and a 12.3-inch touchscreen compared to the Premium's 8.0-inch. .

Touring models now start at $46,415—$7,000 less for the 2024 model year. They get more convincing features, including a moonroof, a digital rearview mirror and ventilated front seats (heating is standard on all models).

Like the 2024 model, Subaru says the 2025 Solterra “will be eligible for up to $7,500 in effective tax credits for certain buyers.” Despite not being incorporated in the US, and not eligible for purchase credit, Solterra's lease is actually funded by a so-called “lease loophole” that allows captive credit companies to claim imported EVs for lease as commercial fleet vehicles. Auto manufacturers and their credit firms provide a lease under which they are obligated to transfer full credit to buyers. Meanwhile, the EV tax credit in its various forms has reportedly been targeted by the incoming Trump Administration.

For $500 more, the New-for-2025 Onyx Edition offers Touring grade black wheels and exterior trim and two-tone color options. This makes it the same as the Nightshade Edition that joins the Toyota bZ4X in the 2025 lineup. The Toyota has also gone down in price, with a price cut of up to $6,000.

While the bZ4X is available with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, in keeping with the Subaru ethos, the Solterra is only available with dual-motor all-wheel drive. Subaru lists output as 215 hp and 249 lb-ft of torque, with power provided by the same 72.8-kwh battery pack as in the bZ4X. The scope of the EPA has not changed, with 227 miles on Premium models and 222 miles on other gradeswith large 20 inch wheels.

Subaru introduced the Solterra as a 2023 model and made several changes for 2024, including an improved battery system that allows for faster charging. DC fast charging from 10% to 80% takes about 35 minutesSubaru ratings. That still makes the Solterra one of the slow-charging electric crossovers. In a test study of the 2024 Subaru Solterra, we found that while charging is still in the clear, it's now in the ballpark of rivaling the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Volkswagen ID.4.
