LiveWire, the electric motorcycle brand from Harley-Davidson, has just announced its latest electric motorcycle model. The new LiveWire S2 Alpanista is built on the same platform as the last two models of the brand, using the Arrow platform as a flexible base for several different bikes.
The Arrow platform first received the LiveWire S2 Del Mar, which was then followed by the S2 Mulholland.
LiveWire announced that a high-performance electric maxi-scooter will be produced on the Arrow platform, but not before the company released the S2 Alpinista. “The Alpinista is LiveWire's first sports class,” the company explains, “equipped with 17″ wheels and tires, combining the best features of road, sport, and hyper-tourer.”
The newly launched S2 Alpinista is identical to the two previous models that share the platform. The 10.5 kWh battery that serves as the bike's main structure will provide a range of 120 kilometers (193 km) per charge under city riding conditions. It can be recharged with a Level 2 charger from 20-80% in 1 hour and 20 minutes.
The 433 lb (196 kg) bike can achieve a 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) time of just 3.0 seconds, thanks to its powerful 63 kW (84 hp) engine. The S2 Alpinista can also reach an electronically limited top speed of 99 mph (159 km/h).

Priced at US $15,999 and already available at LiveWire stores in North America and Europe, the S2 Alpinista officially becomes LiveWire's most affordable electric motorcycle available to date, undercutting the $16,499 S2 Del Mar electric street tracker and -$16,499 for the Mulholland electric cruiser sport.
“The Alpinista reimagines the S2 by combining the urban power of a supermoto with the all-round performance nature of a touring bike, creating a level of performance and fun sport,” explains the brand.
Smaller 17″ wheels help lower the bike's seat height, and combined with Dunlop Roadsmart IV tires, the road-ready bike is perfect for “both daily commuting and spirited riding on bumpy roads.”
The S2 Alpinista comes with a 6-axis IMU from Bosch that provides improved cornering antilock braking and improved cornering traction control systems, in addition to four preset riding modes and two custom modes.
Now the third model has been launched on the Arrow platform, the S2 Alpanista emphasizes the versatility of the LiveWire workhorse. This approach was intended to allow the offshoot of the e-motorcycle to quickly develop with many styles of motorcycles all sharing key components of the structure and drivetrain. The move proved to be an engineering success, with three models hitting the road in less than three years. However, sales have not yet met the targets set by LiveWire as the high-end electric motorcycle industry has experienced a difficult few years.
As a LiveWire S2 Del Mar owner myself, I can attest to both the performance and the fun experience of bikes built on the platform, although I find myself in a somewhat smaller community than LiveWire might have expected. With the support of its powerful older brother HD, which retains a controlling stake in the company, LiveWire enjoyed limited freedom of navigation for its first few years and focused on motorcycle development and production, hoping that profits would reach the horizon at the right time. .
