Chevy's electric SUV is being recalled due to faulty adaptive cruise control. GM issued the decision Wednesday, affecting nearly 3,000 Chevy Equinox EV AWD models. Here's how they plan to fix it.
Chevy Equinox EV recall for 2025 AWD models
GM sent a letter to the National Highway Traffic Administration (NHTSA) on Wednesday, notifying the agency of plans to recall certain 2025 Chevy Equinox EV AWD models.
The recall is due to faulty adaptive cruise control software that can cause the brakes to fail to interact as expected. GM said incorrect software calibration in the brake control module (BSCM) prevented the vehicle's cruise control from braking as designed.
If the feature is active, the vehicle may not brake or accelerate as designed. In October, an engineer filed a report with GM's Speak Up Safety program after a test car didn't stop as expected.
On November 8, 2024, GM opened an investigation and found that the software in the BSCM of certain 2025 AWD models was programmed incorrectly.
The recall only affects 2025 Chevy Equinox EV AWD models not equipped with GM's Super Cruise. FWD and AWD models with Super Cruise are not included.
GM dealers will update the software calibration free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to go out on March 3, 2025.

The news comes after GM recalled just over 7,600 2025 Equinox EVs last month because the pedestrian warning system was too quiet.
