Tesla refuses to do the right thing about 'full' package transfers and instead holds the inability to deliver the package over its owners' heads.

I just had a conversation with Tesla about doing the right thing with the FSD transmission. I have the answer: “Action No”.

Tesla literally uses inefficiency to deliver a feature it promises and sells to people, self-driving, like on-demand to get people to order new cars.

Context

For those who don't know, Tesla has been selling since 2016 something called “FSD full drive”, FSD for short, and the automaker has been including features of inappropriate pride Power through software updates in the Air.

Initially, Tesla claimed that all cars produced from 2016 would be able to achieve that. However, Tesla quickly found out that it was wrong and introduced a new computer called HW3 in 2019 and its cars were restored.

In 2023, Tesla also introduced a new computer, HW4, but the automaker said it will simply add charging power to improve the promises to adapt to HW3 vehicles.

In fact, Cesla CEO Elon Musk even demanded that the software updates on the feet of the HW4 enter 6 months after the renewal of the HW3 cars since Tesla is focused on delivering the promises of repetition in the old cars.

That lasted less than a year. Since last year, Tesla has been focusing updates on HW4 as it reaches the limit of HW3. As we reported earlier, Tesla now uses both areas in the HW3 Computer – which means that it does not even have any cold money, which is necessary to get a rating of 4-5 autonomy.

Towards the end of the year, Tesla finally signaled that it may be reaching the limits of HW3 and said that it will provide the ability to restore computers if needed, but there is no restoration when the months of HW4 appear.

With questionable hardware status and questionable data pointing to Tesla being behind schedule behind its popularity, Tesla FSD owners are asking for something simple from the automaker, and you won't do that.

The problem

In a good-looking situation with HW3, Tesla owners have been asking the automaker for years to connect the FSD software package to the owner instead of Tesla, you can transfer your FSD package , which you have paid up to $ 15,000 and Tesla has never delivered completely, in a new car.

Does this sound appropriate? Tesla sold a product they never delivered, and it gives them another shot at new hardware with a new car, with a higher chance of success.

However, Tesla refused to do the right thing here. Musk was asked several times by Tesla owners about doing that and he refused. Instead, he hatched a plan to use tesla's own inability to deliver self-driving power to demand demand.

In the summer of 2023, Musk finally agreed to allow the transfer of FSD, but not because it was the right thing to do. Instead, he said it would be a “one-time thing” for one quarter. Tesla used this to increase sales in the quarter.

Tesla ended up bringing back more encouraging times when it needed to increase orders, making Musk a liar by saying it would only be a quarter. By wanting the end of this period, Tesla creates urgency in trying to get people to upgrade – instead of doing the right thing and giving everyone who bought FSDs the ability to transfer until they give up on their promise.

Right now, Tesla doesn't offer it because it doesn't need to. There are many other factors to strengthen demand now including the new model Y, the fear of losing the tax credit in the US, and in Canada, Tesla recently announced that people are coming next month – to push people to take delivery this month.

I reached out to Tesla about transferring my FSD with a new car this week, and I was told that the FSD transfer window is now closed”. After explaining all of the above to the dealer and highlighting that it is the right thing to do not charge $11,000 for a software package that I never delivered, they agreed to remove the chain .

The next day, I was told that the top management replied: “Section No.”

It is an easy thing to do. Not only is it the right thing to do, but it's also smart for Tesla as it reduces the obvious liability of having HW3 cars paid for by FSD.

At this point, it's clear that Tesla will never be able to deliver its promised full driving capabilities on HW3 vehicles. Should we really be surprised? Tesla was wrong before and had to upgrade cars from HW2.5 to HW3, now 6 years old.

Tesla didn't know what hardware was needed to bring self-driving there, and there's a good chance it doesn't now. But even then, does anyone seriously believe that Tesla will be able to deliver unprotected power to 6-year-old hardware? I don't think so.

Therefore, every HW3 vehicle sold with the FSD package is a credit. It makes them remove the packages from those cars and move them to the latest cars that have a high probability of being delivered on their promise – even if there is a lot of room for doubt with those cars.

It doesn't matter, it's about doing the right thing for your customers instead of using your inability to deliver a promising product as a lever for more. It's worse than the tactics used by Car Dealerships when Tesla is so disrespectful.

As usual, I want to highlight that I think the FSD is an amazing product, and if it was developed without Elon Musk saying it would be able to drive safely 5 years ago 5 years ago. Customers before they are ready, I think it can be very disappointing.

But instead, Tesla and Musk are doing those things, and many people see it as a fake and dangerous product. It doesn't help when the CEO misses the details of the plan.
