More than 50% of Honda Accord sales are now hybrids

Hybrids are now more efficient 50% of US Honda Accord salesthe automaker said Monday while detailing pricing for the 2025 Accord.

The Accord introduced Honda's dual-hybrid lineup for the 2014 model year, and was offered as a hybrid occasionally before that, but Honda got serious about boosting hybrid sales with the latest redesign of the midsize sedan. This saw hybrid grades surpass non-hybrid grades for the first time. In 2025, Honda offers Four versions of the Accord hybrid and only two non-hybrids, one of which is new this year.

Honda said sold 111,264 Contracts through August, making it the automaker's third-highest seller behind the CR-V and Civic. The CR-V is also available with the same dual-motor powertrain used in the long-running Accord, while the Civic is adding it as part of a 2025 model year refresh. Honda expects hybrids to eventually take shape 40% of Civic sales.

The automaker also confirmed recently that it plans to produce hybrids at a new EV production facility at its Marysville, Ohio plant, which is slated to open in 2025. The new hub, which includes a battery factory in partnership with LG, will be able to assemble hybrids or EVs on the same lines, according to Honda. That would give Honda the flexibility it believes it needs to address the constraints on customer demand for EVs.

With Honda aiming for 2 million EV sales by the end of the decade, it remains committed to hybrids. The automaker plans to use EV hardware in a new hybrid all-wheel drive system, and aims to improve the business structure of its hybrids between 2026 and 2030.

Meanwhile, the 2025 Toyota Camry is now available only with hybrid powertrains. So 100% of the sales of the Accord's main rival will be hybrids going forward.
