Charged EVs | Redwood will recycle BMW's North American batteries

US lithium-ion battery manufacturer Redwood Materials has partnered with BMW of North America to recycle end-of-life batteries from all BMW Group EVs, including the BMW, MINI, Rolls Royce and BMW Motorrad cars.

Redwood will work directly with the BMW Group's network of more than 700 locations, including dealerships, distribution centers and in-house services.

Redwood has two US campuses to recycle, refine and manufacture battery components—one outside Reno, Nevada and another under construction in Charleston, South Carolina. The Charleston location is near BMW Group's Spartanburg Plant and Woodruff Plant, where the company will assemble at least six electric models.-and high-capacity battery packs for those vehicles-before the end of the decade.

“Our partnership with BMW of North America includes our ongoing commitment to the recovery of end-of-life EV battery packs to ensure valuable materials are recycled, refined and returned to the battery supply chain to create sustainable electric vehicles,” said Redwood.
