H2 @ Work Spotlight: Lance Petta

Lance Petta is a field service technician in Cleburne Texas, where he works directly on plug-in fuel cells for customers. Before joining the plug, Lance served 14 years in the United States Navy as an aircraft mechanic. Through the Department of Defense program, he was able to learn the role while on active duty, enabling him to transition to military service and join the plug as a full-time employee at the end of August 2025.

How he got the plug

Lance was the first person to complete Plug's abilities. He had heard about this company through a friend who speaks well of the nature of the work and the work. His background in aircraft maintenance makes the transition to field service feel natural. The training, hands-on experience, and training he received during Screenbridge set him up for success from day one.

Why the plug sounds good

Most prominent at Lance was the support of Veterans. His entire site is staffed, and he says shared understanding and collaboration feels familiar. The plug also provides flexibility in VA appointments and encourages open communication. Listening, that shows real support rather than just a policy on paper.

Looking ahead with hydrogen

Lance believes that hydrogen and fuel cells are the future of energy. Seeing sites that work all over the world reinforces that belief. You get meaningful work because it contributes to a clean and sustainable energy solution.

Life without work

Outside of work, Lance co-hosts a podcast with one of his twenty-something friends where they talk about anime and music. He also makes his own hot sauces, experimenting with flavors and temperatures just for fun.

Supporting veterans every day

Lance's journey shows how sykerbridges can help service members navigate military missions with confidence. At the plug, veterans bring valuable experience, discipline and leadership, and find opportunities to continue making an impact. We are proud to recognize Lance for Veterans Day and are grateful for all he brings to the organization.
