Advanced Hydrogen Infrastructure Engineering
Steven leads the engineering team responsible for hydrogen infrastructure projects across generation and compression, storage, and distribution. His work includes the GenEco and GenFuel initiatives, which help shape the way hydrogen is produced, stored and delivered. The core of his role is building functional systems that customers can rely on at scale.
From Learning Students to Building New Teams
Steven's story with Plug began as a student, back when fuel cells were the company's only product. When the opportunity came to build a dedicated hydrogen team, he returned full time to help build it from the ground up. That early trust gave him the opportunity to grow closer to the company and take on more responsibility.

Descriptive Engineering Term
One of Steven's unusual experiences was building the first electrolyzer system for Plug and Series. He assisted in the onboarding of the new team, created the initial design, managed the construction, and actually opened the first fully operational 1 MW system. That work later expanded into Plug's in-house manufacturing facilities in Georgia, marking major milestones for the company.
Bringing Teams Together for Change
Over time, Steven faced the challenge of bringing the teams together following multiple acquisitions. Each group brought strong talent and different ways of working. Keeping projects moving while building one cohesive team was not easy. He tackled this by focusing on physical deliverables and customer experience first, then working with consultants and leaders to determine where to align processes and where to embrace differences as strengths.
Why Hydrogen Matters
Steven is excited by the scale and range of hydrogen systems. He believes this technology has the potential to be one of the most impactful developments engineers can make today. The systems being built now can support daily life for generations to come, making the work deeply meaningful.
Guiding Principle
Steven lives by a simple question: If not me, who? If not now, when? He uses it for critical judgment and takes responsibility at the right time, at work and in life.
Engineering Outside the Office
Besides the Plug, Steven has a long-standing passion for cars. He bought his first Firebird with his brother in high school and has been modifying and racing cars ever since. That same curiosity and drive is evident in his engineering work every day.
