Rosenbauer Panther 6×6 electric fire truck


Austrian emergency vehicle manufacturer Rosenbauer has officially opened the order books for its latest electric fire truck. Meet the Panther 6×6 electric rescue and firefighting aircraft (ARFF).

Four electric motors power the new 6×6, delivering significantly higher performance, handling, and acceleration than its diesel-powered competition.

The electric Rosenbauer Panther 6 × 6 was specially designed to meet the specific needs of airport fire services and rescue services that must always be ready to respond to emergencies – and arrive at them as quickly as possible. The new rapid response ARFF is the next generation version of the electric fire truck 4×4 Rosenbauer RT developed from 2020. Five of those units saw service in Berlin as part of the pilot development program, with the same unit still in service. in Los Angeles to join two others in Paris. The two Parisians went to work for Group ADP at Paris-Orly and Paris-Charles de Gaulle airports.

An electric fire truck can charge using both AC and DC power, so it's always ready to jump into action. It can power its water pumps using a battery or auxiliary/grid power, so it will run out of water before it runs out of juice.

Especially in the field of firefighting, mobility offers many advantages. With the electric PANTHER 6 × 6, airport fire departments around the world can now take advantage of these advantages,” said Sebastian Wolf, CEO of Rosenbauer International.

Due to the short distances involved and the extreme loads involved, airports offer almost identical conditions for the use of battery-electric vehicles.

That's a good thing, too. As demand for on-road fuel decreases, airports and airlines (historically responsible for around 4% of global warming) are becoming a bigger and bigger slice of the rapidly shrinking pie when it comes to fuel emissions.
