In today's educational episode of Fast Charging, Ford Pro crossover vehicle brand manager Nate McDonald is here to tell us about a new fleet management tool that can help give airlines a better answer to that modern question: What is the right time to install electricity?
If you have a commercial fleet and are interested in converting some or all of your vehicles to EVs, how and when is the right time to do it? That's the question Ford wants to help its commercial customers answer with a new Ford Pro tool called E-Switch Assist.
IE-Switch Assist is an offering that takes telematics data from existing diesel-powered Ford F-150 and Transit models and tracks each vehicle's energy consumption to determine if it is a good candidate for EV conversion.
The results? After testing more than 38,000 commercial vehicles in test programs, the E-Switch Assist tool revealed that nearly 53 percent of all ICE-powered Ford F-150 and Transit vehicles are “Highly Eligible” or “Possible/Should” switch . in electricity without disrupting the business based on its current consumption.
“Intelligent data-informed tools like E-Switch Assist open many new conversations with our commercial customers large and small about EV readiness; we already use E-Switch Assist on a regular basis to help organizations determine if electric trucks and vans are right for them,” said Nate McDonald, EV strategy and cross brand manager at Ford Pro. “The importance of these tools and technologies goes beyond selling a customer a new car—it's changing the way they think about whether electric vehicles will work for their business while saving them time and money.”
Nate McDonald joins us on today's show to help us get through it. Enjoy!
