Charged EVs | Beam Global receives first order of BeamSpot curbside EV chargers from Fortune 500 utility company

Beam Global sells a portable solar EV charger that's the size of a parking lot and can be set up in just hours. Obvious applications for EV ARC include off-grid and/or short-term charging needs, such as disaster relief events (a few of these were useful here in St. Pete, Florida recently). However, when He allegedly spoke to CEO Desmond Wheatley back in 2022he pointed out that there are many other applications as well—almost anywhere where limited grid power and/or rapid installation are issues.

We believe that curbside charging is shaping up to be one of the hottest parts of the EV charging infrastructure universe—it's an obvious solution for urban drivers who can't install chargers at home—so we were very excited to learn about Beam's new BeamSpot. curbside charging product line.

Now the company has announced that it has received the first order for its BeamSpot side chargers from an undisclosed long-term customer, “a Fortune 500 company in the utilities and energy solutions sector.” Most corporate offices will each install three BeamSpot systems for EV charging and street lighting.

The BeamSpot side charging system is a replacement for street lights that can be powered by solar, wind and/or grid electricity, stored in integrated Beam batteries. The system integrates with the existing streetlight electrical infrastructure and provides both EV charging and lighting. Eligible areas include urban areas such as townships, residential areas, parking lots, multi-unit housing and public spaces.

“While there are streetlight EV charging solutions on the market, those rely entirely on the streetlight's electrical circuit, which is only equipped with enough capacity to illuminate the light,” said Beam. “BeamSpot's solution integrates three power sources into its internal batteries, allowing for high-capacity EV charging that is largely supplied by renewable energy, and that will continue to operate during blackouts and other grid failures. The BeamSpot product will continue to light the streets during grid failures.”

“This first order shows the sales of the BeamSpot product,” said CEO Desmond Wheatley. “This product solves one of the most pressing challenges facing the industry today—the need for ubiquitous, sustainable charging at the edge that can be deployed quickly and without major relief, construction or electrical work.”
