Stellantis confirmed Tuesday a 500-mile range for its upcoming Ram 1500 REV electric truck and a 690-mile range and 14,000-pound towing capacity for an extended version of the Ram 1500 Ramcharger on its flexible STLA Frame platform.
The big news from Stellantis with its large global platform is its multi-energy flexibility aimed at supporting electric hybrid, plug-in, hybrid, hydrogen fuel cell, and internal combustion powertrains in the future. Stellantis estimates that 50% of US car and light truck sales will be electric vehicles by 2030, and STLA Frame rollout starts with Ram and Jeep.

The third of four multi-power platforms detailed in the Stellantis portfolio represents the largest and will underpin everything from Ram trucks to light commercial vehicles and full-size SUVs like the next iterations of the Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer. So long and wide is the STLA Grand product platform that underpins upcoming large sedans like the 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona EV and midsize crossovers that could include the Jeep Grand Cherokee.
The STLA Large measures 201.8 inches long and has a wheelbase of up to 121.1 inches. The STLA Large has a wider delta of ground clearance, however, from 5.5 inches to 11.3 inches.

The Frame platform uses high-strength steel and reinforced frames designed to protect the liquid-cooled battery packs. A shield, or belly pan, under the frame promises to reduce drag and increase efficiency.
The range-extended EV (REEV), broadly classified as a plug-in hybrid even though it's mechanically different, represents a very interesting development in the electric pickup truck space. With front and electric drive modules rated at up to 250 kw in the front and less in the rear, and a 92-kwh pack battery, the Ramcharger can travel 145 kilometers on electric power alone.
The classic Pentastar 3.6-liter V-6 engine acts as a large generator to convert mechanical power into electric power and is not connected to the wheels and has no moving parts. The front wheels can be disengaged while moving for better performance.
Earlier this year, Ram quoted specs of 663 hp and 615 lb-ft of torque, and a 0-60 mph time of 4.4 seconds for the Ramcharger. Stellantis on Tuesday confirmed a towing capacity of 14,000 pounds and a payload of up to 2,700 pounds for the STLA Frame; waiting for confirmation if that works for both REV and Ramcharger. That far exceeds the 10,000-pound towing capacity of both the Ford F-150 Lightning and the Chevy Silverado EV.
Stellantis said the STLA Frame vehicles will have flexible suspension designs, including an available air suspension that may be offered with a multi-link rear suspension. The traditional solid rear axle with coil springs may carry over to the flared STLA Frame versions.
Another notable spec, especially for the next iteration of the new Jeep Wagoneer in this field, was the 24-inch hydraulic capacity.

Battery pack sizes were listed between 159 kwh “to more than 200 kwh” in the press conference, but Ram previously announced a 168-kwh battery size for the 1500 REV, and an available 229-kwh battery that will provide a limited range of 500. – mileage.
The Ramcharger uses a 92-kwh pack. EVs on the STLA Frame can cover a range of 100 miles in 10 minutes on 350 kw, while REEVs can achieve a range of 50 miles in 10 minutes on 175 kw.
