It sounds like Tesla jumped the gun when it announced that Nissan drivers now have access to the Supercharger network in North America.
They will have to wait a little longer.
Yesterday, we reported that Tesla has added Nissan to the list of automakers with EVs that can use the Supercharger network in North America.
However, Tesla has removed Nissan from its list of accessible automakers and moved the Japanese automaker back to the “coming soon” list.
Nissan confirmed that Electrek that access is not currently available, but will be available by the end of the year.
Sounds like a miscommunication on Tesla's part. We hear that it should be coming soon.
Elon Musk has fired Tesla's entire charging team – apparently following the example of then-charging head Rebecca Tinucci, who reportedly disagreed with Musk about another layoff following another wave of layoffs.
Instead of just firing him, Musk decided to fire the entire team and sent an email to other Tesla executives using the charging team's situation as a warning.
Tesla has since had to rehire many former members of its billing team to rebuild the department.
This is believed to have slowed down the opening of the Supercharger network for other North American automakers. We were told that communication with Tesla's charging team was difficult after not being at the automaker for several weeks earlier this year.
As we previously reported, this situation has reduced Tesla's shipments to Supercharger stations.
However, the Supercharger network recently hit the milestone of 60,000 charging stations worldwide.
