Renault Trucks doesn't get a lot of headlines outside of France, but the company is serious about moving electric trucks – and its new 2025 MY E-Tech T meter electric truck packs a serious range, too: more than 600 km (about 375 miles) per charge!
Renault says its trucks have logged nearly 19 million all-electric miles, saving more than 29,000 tons (about 32,000 tons) of CO₂ over the past five years. Now, with a range of up to 600 km per charge (up from 400 km for the 2024 model), you can expect that number to go up, fast.
Although it is suitable for long distance travel, however, Renault says that long distance itself is not the end goal. Instead, they encourage their fleet customers to size their truck batteries according to their actual needs, and maximize cargo capacity, routes, and charging strategies.
“We are not looking to enter the race for self-governance with one case,” emphasized Emmanuel Duperray. “Larger batteries penalize the price, increase operating costs and increase the environment. In fact, an electric truck is more expensive than an internal combustion engine. We need to rethink low-carbon logistics, in other words, rethink transport patterns to improve the use of transport vehicles and thus reduce the cost per kilometre.”
Duperray believes that the 600 km range, combined with the development of public charging infrastructure networks through Renault's joint charging project, Milence, will enable the company to achieve “performance parity” with diesel by 2026.
