Danfoss Power Solutions has introduced its Editron EM-PMI540B electric drivetrains for electric or hybrid drives in demanding applications such as off-highway and marine applications.
Based on synchronous reluctance-assisted magnet technology, the EM-PMI540B works as both a motor and a generator. It offers up to 96% efficiency and continuous non-stop power for as long as the duty cycle requires. High altitudes of up to 4,000 meters enable extensive mining and forestry use.
The EM-PMI540B is small and light, allowing for direct machine integration. Its housing has an ingress protection level of IP67.
The EM-PMI540B has more mounting and shaft options than its predecessors, the EM-PMI540A—such as a flange mount, various foot mounts, shaft-shaft, and spline—standard housing designs and end shields for every size, and a modest development motor range.
The EM-PMI540B electric motor is available in four sizes to suit a range of torque and power requirements—the T1500, T2000, T3000 and T4000 are compatible with continuous torque ratings of 1,500 Nm up to 4,000 Nm. The full line of motors has power from 119 kW to 1,000 kW and speeds from 0 to 4,000 rpm. The engine is liquid cooled and has low coolant flow requirements and an allowable coolant temperature of up to 65° C.
“Our new Ediron EM-PMI540B electric motor builds on the popularity and market-leading performance of our PMI540A. To our high-efficiency ratings and 24/7 continuous power, we've added universal mounting options and a high-rise rating to meet market demands. These integrated features are particularly useful in mining, port handling, and forestry equipment,” said Fredrik Wigh, Senior Product Manager, Electrical Equipment at Danfoss Power Solutions. “But the motors' efficiency and small size make them suitable for many other electric and hybrid machines, especially those that operate in difficult and difficult environments.”
