BMW M on Wednesday released prototype images of what might be coming electric M3 sports sedan.
Posted on the official Instagram page of the performance division, the photos show a camouflaged sedan with exaggerated wheels similar to the BMW M that has been used for testing four car layout future performance EVs. It would make sense that the quad-motor powertrain debuted on a car wearing the M3 badge, one of the most sacred in BMW history.

The electric BMW M3 was confirmed by M division chief Frank van Meel in an interview earlier this year, with the official boasting that it would “surpass anything you've ever seen.”
One of the many electric M models understood to be in development, the M3 will be a part of it The BMW Neue Klasse family of next-generation EVs. These will introduce updates such as cylindrical battery cells and an 800-volt electric architecture that BMW says will deliver a 30% improvement in charging speed and up to 30% better driving range compared to current EVs.

The electric M3 can also be seen the gears have been changed and synthetic engine sounds synchronized with the driver's inputs, similar to the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N. In a separate interview, van Meel said that BMW has been working on this feature, adding that he thinks Hyundai's approach makes sense.
Performance models such as the M3 will likely arrive later in the Neue Klasse release. Pre-production of the first Neue Klasse SUV started at BMW's assembly plant in Debrecen, Hungary, last week, with customer vehicles expected to be produced in late 2025. BMW then plans to increase production at its main factory in Munich, Germany, next. in mexican production in 2027.
