BP is celebrating the opening of its first TA EV HUB in Florida

No doubt the average road fan is familiar with the red, white, and blue sheep symbol and probably thinks of the places as safe, easy stops in the unknown. The company hopes those positive associations will carry over as its customers continue to switch from electric to electric at a rapid pace in 2025 and beyond.

“Today marks a milestone in our commitment to bring new forms of energy to our customers as we support their changing needs, while incorporating the best of BP and TA,” explained Debu. BOCHA, however, was quick – but TA is quick to point out that TA is not allowed its customers behind. “While this is important, for our loyal customers and visitors, TA certification will continue to provide the safe and reliable refueling options it has provided for more than 50 years, regardless of fuel type.”

The Charging Hub along I-95 offers 12 DC fast charging ports that provide 400kw of fast charging power. While on TA, EV drivers can visit restrooms, shop at a convenience store, or eat at fast food chains like Popeyes and Subway. Some TA centers offer WIFI and pet services – making themselves ideal partners for BP as the two companies build their own charging networks.

“As we expand our EV charging network in the US, I am excited to unveil the first of many hubs in TA locations,” said Sujay Sharma, CEO of BP Pulse Americas. “These sites are conveniently located on key highways that provide our customers with a way to charge where and when they need it most, while offering convenient locations, such as restaurants.”

As I type this, BP has more than 37,000 eV charging ports in operation worldwide, and plans to acquire more than 100,000. The company announced that its 2022 chargers are more profitable than its gas pumps. Three years on, that seems to be working.

As always, money talks.
