Charged EVs | Choosing to initiate a reed transfer to test and measure

UK-based reed relay manufacturer, Pickering Electronics, releases its Series 125 miniature double-pole, single-throw reed relay.

The new Series 125 2 Form A relays stack on a compact 5 mm x 5 mm pitch, which achieves the highest packing density for two-pole relays, according to the company. The relays support switching power up to 1 A and 20 W in a single line (SIL/SIP), surface mount and other popular package styles. They are available with 3 V, 5 V, or 12 V coils, including an optional diode.

The relays also incorporate full mu-metal magnetic screening, reducing magnetic interactions between relays from 40% to only 1%. This reduces magnetic interactions when relays are stacked close together.

Pickering's reed relays for high-density test and measurement applications allow customers to fit up to 80% more relays on printed circuit boards (PCBs).

“As Pickering continues to develop its reed relay offering for test instrumentation and automated test equipment, we expect to see interest from a variety of sectors and applications, including mixed-signal semiconductor testing, advanced cable testers and backplane testers, signal switching in medical electronics. and EV charging, solar cell monitoring, and high voltage instruments,” said Rob King, Product Manager for Reed Relays at Pickering Electronics.
