After the introduction of prismatic and cylindrical communication systems and battery cells, e-mobility technology provider ENNOVI adds the ENNOVI-CellConnect-Pouch to its offering.
A new cell contact system has been developed for battery manufacturers using the cell's form factor bag. ENNOVI's Lamination technology ensures the battery pack's structural integrity and durability. Using flexible die-cut circuit (FDC) technology for low voltage signal tracks instead of conventional flexible printed circuit (FPC) reduces production time and cost, the company said.
The top dielectric layer covers the FDC copper leads while the bottom layer is pre-cut to shape the current collectors. Both layers are made of automotive-grade PI or PET material with good electrical insulation and temperature stability properties. Two layers are laminated with all built-in fuse trackers or surface mount fuses and NTC temperature sensors layered in, simplifying the use of materials and creating a compact design. The overall design also helps to reduce battery thermal power by achieving faster exhaust timing.
“With the ENNOVI-CellConnect-Pouch cell communication system we offer battery manufacturers a complete integrated manufacturing solution that allows us to produce a part in a low cycle time using thermal lamination,” said Gustavo Cibrian, Product Manager, ENNOVI. “The design of this system eliminates the need to carry traditional plastic cells, made of glass-reinforced plastic, and eliminates warehouse space and molding lines, as well as the heating process.”
