Toshiba Electronics Europe has partnered with development tool supplier MikroElektronika (MIKROE) to integrate its TB9083FTG gate driver IC into the Brushless 30 Click, an add-on board for precise and reliable control of brushless DC (BLDC) motors in automotive applications.
Toshiba's TB9083FTG is designed according to ISO 26262 (second edition) and includes nine gate drivers, including six to drive MOSFETs to control BLDC motors in the 1000 W range or less.
It also includes three external MOSFET drivers that can be used for system control or safety relays, thus enabling the TB9083FTG to support the ASIL-D active safety standard for automotive applications.
The TB9083FTG includes a built-in charge pump, adjustable current amplifiers for each motor phase oscillator circuit and an SPI communication interface for configuration via a microcontroller host unit (MCU).
The Brushless 30 Click board is designed to operate from a wide range of external power from 4.5 V to 28 V and can deliver a maximum output current of up to 10 A. It includes a set of fault detection capabilities including under-power, overload, over. -temperature and external MOSFET VDS detector for automotive applications such as electric power steering (EPS), power brakes and automotive pumps where precise vehicle control is essential.
