Dandy Mini Marts has installed its first EV charger, the Tesla Supercharger, at its store in Elmira, New York.
Elmira's Dandy Mini Marts store now offers 12 250 kW Superchargers open to Tesla and CCS-compliant NACS-enabled EVs. Superchargers came online last month, according to Dandy.
Dandy Mini Marts is headquartered in Pennsylvania and has more than 60 locations in the Northeast, and its plan is to install more EV charging stations.
“We are excited to bring electric vehicle charging to our Dandy locations,” said Dyson Williams, vice president of Dandy. “As we continue to grow, we are committed to innovating and providing convenience for everyone, whether they are growing or charging.”
Dandy's location in Elmira “situates among many metropolitan areas in New York's Southern Tier, such as Corning, Watkins Glen, Ithaca, and Binghamton, where there is a substantial market for electric vehicle owners.”
However, there hasn't been enough EV charging infrastructure in that area — according to the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority, Dandy's Supercharger will be the only store with an EV charging station within a 50-mile radius.
