Ford Mustang Mach-E SUV electric car has sold all of its fuel and convertible siblings in 2024.
Ford just released its Q4 and year-end sales results, which showed 51,745 Mach-E sales and 44,003 Mustang gasoline sales. Those represent a 26.9% year-over-year increase from 2023 for the Mach-E, and a 9.5% decrease for the gasoline Mustang.
That's despite the Mustang being the last of the V-8 pony cars after the Chevrolet Camaro and Dodge Challenger were discontinued at the end of 2023 (though the rest of the rest stayed until 2024) and having its first full calendar year of production after the redesign. . .

Ford pointed to supply chain issues for the Mustang's 2.3-liter turbo-4 engine, which kept inventory low during the second half of the year. It's not the first time. By mid-2021, Ford was building more Mach-E EVs than gasoline Mustangsafter it was reported that it chose to prioritize an electric model amid the global chip shortage.
The Mach-E has had strong sales since its inception, however. In April 2021, shortly after its launch, Ford said the electric SUV was it to move quickly to sales points-an important metric in the automotive industry. Ford also began delivering the Mach-E less than a year after the arrival of the Tesla Model Y, helping to quickly position it as an alternative, and has remained committed to true volume production from the start.

The Mach-E also proved to be a solid effort. At its launch, we saw that the Ford looked better and drove better than the Model Y, which is why we named it the Model Y. Ford has taken a very different approach with the F-150 Lightning truck, which includes not only the gasoline model's badge but also its chassis. It recently halted production of that model, which carried good sales through early 2024, but remains a small fraction of overall F-150 sales.
