Who said Ford's electric crossover SUV wasn't a real Mustang? Mach-E topped the gas-powered Ford Mustang last year as one of the best-selling EVs in the US.
Ford Mach-E EV to release Gas Mustang in 2024
All Ford EV models set a new sales record in 2024 with double-digit growth. After setting a new record of 30,176 EVs sold in the fourth quarter, Ford's total electric vehicle sales in the US rose to 97,865 in 2024, an increase of 34.8% from 2023.
The Mustang Mach-E had its best sales quarter since its introduction in late 2020, with 16,119 models sold in Q4. With 51,745 Mach-Es sold last year, it was the best-selling electric SUV in the US, behind the Tesla Model Y.
Even more impressive, Mach-E has replaced every gas-powered Ford Mustang model in 2024. Ford sold more than 48,600 Mustangs last year, down 9.5% from 2023.
With sales up 27% year over year, Ford's EV is officially the best-selling Mustang. In a statement, Ford said that “consumers love Ford's electrified vehicles in 2024, which boosted growth and set a sales record for the year.

By 2024, Ford will sell nearly 285,300 ” electrified” vehicles, including electric vehicles (EV), hybrids (HEV), and plug-in hybrids (PHEV), more than GM and Stellantis.
After its best quarter for EV sales in Q4, Ford has extended its “Power Promise” promotion. The program offers all new EV buyers a free Level 2 home charger, and Ford covers the cost of standard installation.
Ford's Power Promise is designed to show the real benefits of driving an electric car, like waking up with a full charge every morning. In addition, Ford eases any concerns about electric mobility with 24/7 live EV support and ongoing roadside assistance. The program now runs until March 31, 2025.
