A Twist on Memorable Early Careers
Shortly after graduating from college, Marissa joined her first company that experienced a major building fire within her first six weeks. “Growing up as the daughter of a firefighter, it was the first time that my personal and professional life was interrupted as my father's department helped put out a fire,” she recalls. Staying Adaptable Amidst Challenges
In her role, Marissa sometimes needs to turn around quickly. This can be difficult for someone who describes herself as more Type-A, but she reminds herself to look at the bigger picture. “I try to focus on the end goal and use that as motivation,” he explains. This method helps him avoid tunnel vision and stay on track, even when plans change at the last minute.
I'm Happy With Hydrogen

He believes that the potential of hydrogen and fuel cells is great.
Keep Going, Keep Growing
For Marissa, mistakes and unexpected setbacks are opportunities to learn and grow. He adheres to the idea of ”Keep Going, Keep Growing.” On his birthday each year, he looks back on his accomplishments and feels grateful for how far he has come. This past year, he bought his first house. He says: “Although it did not come without difficulties, I can now look back and appreciate what it took to get here.
Home of Honor
Marissa and her boyfriend recently bought her her grandmother's house, her childhood favorite. They were fixing everything from the carpets to the kitchen. He says: “It has been a pleasure to breathe new life into a much-loved home and make it our own.
