Honda 0 Series EV prototypes debut at CES Jan. 7

Honda will present its prototypes 0 Series electric vehicles at CES in Las Vegas on Jan. 7, 2025.

The two prototypes follow the first concept versions revealed at CES 2024 this past January, as well as a preview production models will arrive in 2026. The teaser image shows one car that appears to retain the familiar shape of the Honda Saloon concept shown at CES 2024, while another trades in the van-like form of the previous Space-Hub concept for something more SUV-like.

Honda has previously confirmed that a production model based on the Saloon concept will be the first to arrive, but it will be just one of many EVs based on the same 0 Series building blocks. It marks Honda's first attempt at a step-up EV component set after several false starts, with General Motors relying on the Honda Prologue and Acura ZDX electric SUVs.

At least some of these models will be Made in the US. The automaker is currently renovating its Ohio facilities, and building a new battery plant, with the goal of producing hundreds of EVs per day but easily mixing production with hybrids as needed. That will ensure the 0 Series EVs aren't niche models, but Honda has warned they won't be an electric replacement for the likes of the Accord or CR-V.

The Honda Saloon EV concept

In addition to Honda's flagship EVs, the 0 Series platform will be used to inspire Acura's model design from this year's Performance EV concept, as well as EVs from Sony-Honda's joint Afeela brand. Acura and Afeela models will also be produced in Ohio.

Honda also said that the 0 Series will have it lightweight, energy-dense battery packswith the latest versions of the platform using batteries that will be able to last charge from 15%-80% in just 10-15 minutes, and will not lose more than 10% of their original capacity and range after 10 years of use. The prototype drive of the 0 Series architecture earlier this year showed that Honda will be able to combine aero-efficient shape with sharp handling.
