Hyundai's low-cost Casper Electric (also known overseas as the Inster EV) is getting a new XRT variant. The new Casper EV XRT trim has been spotted for the first time in Korea before its official launch.
Hyundai presented the Casper Electric in June at the Busan International Mobility Show in South Korea.
The new affordable EV stole the show with a compact yet functional design. Despite its small size, Hyundai expects it to have a significant impact on its “opportunities to accelerate the popularity of electric vehicles.”
Hyundai has opened pre-orders for the Casper EV in its home market with prices starting at just $22,800 (31.5 million won).
With government incentives, Hyundai says the entry-level model “Inspiration” can be purchased for as little as $14,500 (20 million won).
The new EV is a “very attractive option” for many consumers looking to go electric, according to Hyundai. With a 49 kWh battery, Hyundai's Casper Electric has a range of up to 315 kilometers on a single charge.
Hyundai's Casper EV gets the XRT treatment
At 3,825 mm long, the all-electric Casper is slightly smaller than the Chevy Bolt EV, but Hyundai says it's perfect for city driving. It's actually bigger than the gas-powered Casper (230 mm long and 15 mm wide), with more space for rear passengers.

Out of hiding, the video appears HealerTV it features aggressive new design features. The reporter notes that Hyundai's new engine “feels a little more powerful” and offers a “GT-like character.”
The turn signals and headlights remain the same, but the front bumper appears to have been completely redesigned.
Hyundai's Casper Electric is being exported overseas as the Inster EV. In Europe, the Inster starts at $27,000 (25,000 euros) and has a WLTP range of up to 220 miles (355 km).
Launching in the US?
For those in the US, there is good news and bad news. The downside is that Hyundai is not expected to launch the Casper (Inster) EV in the US. However, the good news is that the upgraded 2025 IONIQ 5 will start arriving in US dealerships this fall.
The 2025 US-built IONIQ 5 has more range and features, and comes with a NACS port to access Tesla's Supercharger network. It will also be available in the new XRT trim.
