Kempower, Proviridis' partner in the semi-novel truck charging solution

French infrastructure specialist Proviridis has partnered with EVSE manufacturer Kempower to deliver a novel, underground charging solution for small electric trucks designed for easy integration into existing truck depots.

By installing its high-capacity charging cabinets underground and connecting the charging cables to a rigid steel pipe, Kempower and Proviridis were able to open a high-capacity charging station in a truck depot that did not have enough space to install it. normal EVSE or “drop lines” at the top.

In the pilot, the steel pipe is painted in a bright yellow color to make it easier to see when guiding the lot, and to keep the suppliers themselves more protected than conventional concrete bollards. The 600 kW power cabinet is placed a few yards away – a typical Kempower space-saving solution – and is connected to the charging points via an underground cable.

Proviridis believes their solution offers enough of a competitive advantage that buyers of ships looking to electrify will be eager to try it.

“The product lasts a long time in a wide range of temperatures and conditions, requires little ventilation, and can cater to a wide range of customer needs,” explains Olivier Verdu, Technical Director at Proviridis. “These are the features that perfectly position the Kempower solution for this type of charging configuration in the logistics environment.”

Electrek's Take

While conventional chargers can account for 20% of the parking capacity of an existing truck depot, Kempower products have already gained recognition for the efficient size of its Satellites. If this underground version looks even better, you can expect to see more Kempower installations near you.
