It is not clear whether the gradual increase in electricity will affect fuel economy. The Sportage hybrid is currently EPA rated 43 mpg combined with front-wheel drive and 38 mpg combined with all-wheel drive. The plug-in hybrid is rated at 34 miles electric rangeand 35 mpg combined after that.
Kia expects the 2026 Sportage models to reach US dealers in the second half of 2025, with pricing to be announced closer to that time. When it arrives, the updated Sportage will continue to compete with the Hyundai Tucson, Toyota RAV4—all of which offer hybrid and plug-in hybrid options—and the Honda CR-V and Mazda CX-50, which are available as. a hybrid but not as a plug-in hybrid.
