MAN Truck & Bus has reached another milestone on its path towards decarbonisation by delivering its first regular production Ultra Low Liner eTGX to international transport service provider Duvenbeck – which plans to add more than 100 such trucks to its total fleet. (!)
Duvenbeck signed a letter of intent (LOI) to buy 120 new electric trucks from Volkswagen Group MAN back in 2023, and now the first examples of 40 e-trucks have arrived at Duvenbeck's HQ. The delivery marks the latest major step towards planned electrification for the company.
“MAN eTruck is an important step towards zero-emissions,” said Bernd Reining, Senior Purchasing Director, Duvenbeck. “It helps us meet the needs of our customers and protect the environment at the same time. Stability is part of our daily practice. “
The requirements Duvenbeck refers to include the interior length of MAN trucks of 3 meters – a first for a battery-electric truck in this category.
“With the Ultra Low Liner eTruck, MAN has created a solution that is fully in line with the needs of the automotive industry. No other series-produced electric semitrailer tractor can pull trailers with an interior length of three meters. This makes it an ideal transport option for high volume needs,” said Friedrich Baumann, Chief Sales & Customer Solutions Officer at MAN Truck & Bus. “We are delighted to have two strong partners by our side, Duvenbeck and Volkswagen, to bring this new system to the road.”
Duvenbeck will put its first MAN electric trucks to work at the Volkswagen plant in Wolfsburg as part of the comprehensive goTOzero impact planning program launched by the Volkswagen Group as part of its commitment to consistently choose climate-friendly equipment options.
Electrek's Take

MUTUNU became a favorite when he told reporters that “it is impossible for hydrogen to compete effectively with battery-powered trucks,” back in January. Since then, the company has continued to test hydrogen semis in an attempt to prove that the technology is not ready for prime time – an idea that seems to be echoed in reality.
