Audi will halt production of the Q8 E-Tron for two months into the new year, ending the electric SUV—in its original E-Tron guise—that ushered in Audi's electric era.

First reported by Reuters, the factory in Brussels, Belgium, which builds the Q8 E-Tron will closes on February 28. Audi has been looking to sell the Belgian plant, but it has looked like it could be closed since November, when the carmaker told Reuters it had been unable to find a buyer. And Automotive News reported in July that the Q8 E-Tron may be on the way.

We now know that the Q8 E-Tron is indeed on its way out, as production will not be transferred to another plant. Although Audi has already announced prices for the year 2025, a spokesperson for Green Car Reports said that all cars are currently available. The automaker's US inventory is 2024 models. Availability of the 2025 models will depend on any remaining production being offered to the US

Audi was planning only minor changes to include content in 2025, and a base price of $600 it is estimated at 76 095 $ (including a $1,295 facility fee).

The Q8 E-Tron was just that introduced for the 2024 model yearas a serious review of the Audi E-Tron, the automaker's first volume EV. It carries all the good stuff from the E-Tron—including good safety ratings—but with slightly sharper handling and more driving range. It reached 300 miles of EPA range in Sportback form trimmed with the efficiency-focused Ultra Package, but that option would be phased out in 2025, dropping it to 272 miles.

While the Q8 E-Tron shares its MLB platform with gasoline models, Audi now has several dedicated EV platforms available. The entry-level Q4 E-Tron shares the MEB platform with Volkswagen EVs like the ID.4, the E-Tron GT is based on the same J1 platform as the Porsche Taycan, and the Q6 In Tron and the A6 E-Tron use the same Premium Platform Electric (PPE) as the Porsche Macan EV. The PPE will likely serve as the basis for Audi EVs going forward—including any potential Q8 E-Tron replacement.
