All-electric EV charging infrastructure provider Revel has made good on previously announced plans to expand its network of fast-charging stations in New York City. This afternoon, Revel officially opened a 24/7 public charging station at Pier 36 in Manhattan, the first of its kind in the NYC area.
Revel is unusual Electrek's home page. The Brooklyn-based company has been helping to accelerate EV adoption by providing the necessary infrastructure and related services to help ensure that the public can easily go electric, especially in New York City.
In 2021, the company gained media attention by introducing the blue Tesla Model Y taxis, followed by Kia Niro EVs as it expanded its fleet.
There's no shortage of demand for sustainable rideshare options in the Big Apple, but Revel's business strategy is focused on filling another critical need for enterprise charging infrastructure. In addition to all-electric taxis, the company has been developing and installing level 3 chargers throughout the city to support its vehicles and other EV drivers living in the city.
At the start of this rollout, Revel had fewer than 30 fast-charging outlets in stations across NYC but shared plans to expand across the city and beyond. Those plans include a new 60-stall Superhub in Queens, and additional charging stations throughout the five boroughs.
Today, Revel cut the ribbon on one of these previously planned charging stations, bringing 24/7 public EV charging to Manhattan for the first time.

During an event in Manhattan this afternoon, Revel officially opened its latest charging station at Pier 35 at 299 South Street. The new site has ten DC fast chargers offering NACS and CCS plugs with charging rates of up to 320 kW.
Like all of Revel's EV charging stations, the Pier 36 facility is open to the public and available 24/7, with no hidden fees. Revel explained that this new location is the first permanent public charging station in Manhattan, which also helps to support EV drivers in NYC, whether they work for a taxi service or private owners.
