Legendary motorcycle manufacturer, Royal Enfield, has released a teaser ahead of the launch of an electric motorcycle expected to take place next month at the Milan Motor Show (EICMA).
In the teaser video, seen below, the electric motorcycle is parachuted down as if it had been dropped by the wind. The video is accompanied by captions teasing the launch on November 4, the start of the Milan motorcycle show.
We got an early look at a prototype electric motorcycle from Royal Enfield at the show last year, but this year the production version of the bike is expected to be unveiled.
According to local media, the electric motorcycle will be the first of several developed in the same area, allowing many electric motorcycles to share the same basic structure.
The use of a structural battery pack is similar to other companies such as Harley-Davidson's LiveWire, which also uses a structural battery pack as the basis of a platform used to produce several different models of electric motorcycles.
This step is very important for the electric motorcycle industry, especially within India, because of the company's major role in the motorcycle industry. Royal Enfield is one of the most popular and oldest motorcycle manufacturers in India, with a rich history spanning 120 years. Known for producing rugged, classic, and retro-styled motorcycles, Royal Enfield has built a strong following both inside and out.
In India, the brand is synonymous with sturdy, reliable bikes, which are very popular for both long-distance touring and daily commuting. Royal Enfield holds the top position in the mid-size motorcycle segment (250-750cc) in India and has grown a loyal following thanks to its blend of vintage and modern engineering.
Despite Royal Enfield's popularity with touring bikes, the upcoming electric motorcycle will likely focus on commuting activities due to the limited range offered by affordable electric motorcycles.
