The 2025 Lexus TX continues with hybrid and plug-in hybrid options


The Lexus TX three-row SUV enters its second model year with minor changes, while continuing to offer both Hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrain options alongside a non-hybrid petrol version.

The 2025 Lexus TX 500h hybrid is offered in F Sport Performance Premium and F Sport Performance Luxury trims. pricing is from $70,010 and $73,160respectively (all prices include a $1,350 destination charge).

Sold with all wheels as standardthe TX 500h debuts what Lexus calls a Parallel Hybrid system, similar to the parent Toyota Hybrid Max. It combines a 2.4-liter turbo-4 and a 6-speed automatic transmission with two electric motors—one placed between the engine and transmission, the other to the rear wheels—making a total of 366 hp and 409 lb-ft of torque.

The TX 550h+ plug-in hybrid is offered in one Luxury grade, and with standard all-wheel drive, priced at $78,560. It combines a 3.5-liter V-6 with Toyota's planetary-gear hybrid system and includes a rear-engine, layout similar to the Toyota RAV4 Plug-In Hybrid (nee Prime), but with a V-6 that allows for a complete system. 404 hp power.

Lexus is still balanced 33 miles electric range for the TX 550h+ and 30 mpg combined thereafter. The TX 500h hybrid's EPA-rated fuel economy of 27 mpg combined starting in the 2024 model year will likely remain the same as well.

Built in Indiana, the TX fills the same role as the Toyota Grand Highlander Hybrid, acting as a larger, longer model that complements a mid-size crossover, in this case the Lexus RX. The RX is available in both hybrid and plug-in hybrid guises, but the TX satisfies those looking for a big, boxy car without going all the way up to the gigantic Lexus LX.
