Lucid has given a first glimpse into its future A mid-size SUV.
On Tuesday at the automaker's technology and production day, Lucid revealed on Twitter (now known as X) a teaser image of the mid-size SUV. Lucid said production is set in late 2026 and added that the crossover will happen it costs less than $50,000.
Lucid said the crossover SUV will have “advanced technology and efficiency.” The company said the undisclosed vehicle will match rivals while using a small battery.
The mid-size electric SUV might be called Mhlaba. Lucid filed for a global trademark at the United States Patent and Trademark Office in January.
Lucid's chief executive, Peter Rawlinson, said in August that it would take years of competition to find an efficient car manufacturing company.
The teaser image shows a crossover SUV with a curved roof similar to the larger Gravity SUV, but in a package the size of a Tesla Model Y. The front end shares its main design cues with the Air and Gravity, such as horizontal headlights. and full-width chrome trim with “LUCID” lettering. Unlike the Gravity, the mid-size SUV's hood appears to have scallops on both sides similar to the Air sedan. The fenders are curved, the side mirrors are fender-mounted, and there are no visible door handles.

Lucid Design boss Derek Jenkins said the mid-size cars will focus on efficiency and aerodynamics. Cars will be denser and lighter than Air. A crossover SUV, a sedan, and an affordable sporty hatchback are all possible.
Pre-production units of the Gravity SUV are now rolling off the assembly line and deliveries will begin later this year.
Lucid has yet to say when the official launch of the mid-size car will take place.
